Chicago is holding its own Run for Congo Women on October 3!
Sponsored by Women for Women International, these runs are happening all over the country. From the WfWI site:
“When we Run for Congo Women, we are sending a simple message: Congolese lives matter. The lives of Congolese women are significant. The lives of Congolese children are precious. They have waited far too long. They are worth our effort. We are running to help. Join us!”
I will be running (ok, walking) in the Chicago Run for Congo Women. I am currently fundraising to sponsor one woman from the Congo; my goal for this run is to raise enough donations to be able to sponsor an additional sponsor!
If you want to get involved, here is a list of upcoming runs:
* Morrison, CO 5K and 10K, Morrison, CO — Saturday, September 19, 2009
* Portland, OR 3 or 9 mile Run (or walk) — Saturday, September 19, 2009
